FEBRUARY’S FAVORITES: (continued)
Here are some of my favorite pieces and performances.
The first is Grieg’s piano concerto performed by Leif Ove Andsnes of Norway. Leonard Slatkin, internationally recognized American conductor conducts the orchestra.
While attending college, I fell in love with this piece. I saw it being played during a television show and I knew that I had to play it.
I remember not knowing its name at the time so I called a publishing company and sang the theme for whoever picked up the phone. After about six persons, I struck gold! Someone knew the piece and I was able to purchase it. Needless to say, I practiced the music day and night and was able to learn about half of the first movement within a few days.
